Our First Decade - The 1930s

Picture
Janesville Little Theatre began its existence on the eve of the Great Depression.  In those early years JLT benefited greatly from a largely unemployed public who were looking for cheap entertainment and were willing to donate their considerable spare time to the community.

Janesville Little Theatre got off to  a strong start with early critical praise.  From winning awards at the Wisconsin Dramatic Guild's annual festival to attendance that reached 1000.  Janesville Little Theatre was one of largest community theater groups in the nation relative to the size of the community.
