Escanaba in da Moonlight
Escanaba in da Moonlight by Jeff Daniels. A comedy set in a deer camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The story follows Rueben Soady, a dim hunter slouching through middle age, ostracized by the men in his family for his annual inability to "bag a buck." Rueben's venison envy reaches a fever pitch on the eve of hunting season, when he joins his father Albert and his brother Remnar at the family cabin for their yearly, alcohol-soaked ritual of tall tales and one-upmanship. Reuben brings with him the infamous reputation of being the oldest Soady in the history of the Soadys never to bag a buck. In a hunting story to beat all hunting stories, Escanaba in da Moonlight spins a hilarious tale of humor, horror and heart as Reuben goes to any and all lengths to remove himself from the wrong end of the family record book.
